A portable power station is the fastest way to get off-grid power in an RV. No wiring a battery bank, no inverter install — you unbox it, plug in, and your coffee maker, laptop, and lights just work. Why choose a power station over a battery bank?
If your RV already has a house battery, a power station is a flexible add-on: run it as a secondary source, take it outside to power a tailgate, or keep one as an emergency backup. If you have no permanent batteries yet, a big station can be your entire system for a while. Either way, the all-in-one design removes the most common beginner mistakes (wrong gauge wire, missing fuse, reversed polarity).
The specs that actually matter for RV use
- Usable capacity (Wh): divide the Wh number by roughly 12.8 to get usable amp-hours at 12V. A 2000Wh unit is about 155Ah.
- Continuous output (W): air fryers, microwaves, and A/C startups pull hard. Match the unit's watt rating to your biggest single load.
- 30A / 50A RV output: only the largest stations (EcoFlow DELTA Pro line) offer a real RV-style outlet. Most use standard 120V sockets you adapt with a dogbone.
- Solar input: how many watts of panels it can accept, and at what voltage. Higher is better for fast top-ups.
- Weight: a 2000Wh+ unit is 50-65 lb. Make sure you have a spot for it that won't become a projectile.

Can a power station run my RV air conditioner?
Only the largest units (EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 / DELTA Pro) can start a small 5,000-8,000 BTU A/C for a short while, and only with a soft-start. For real A/C runtime you need a large inverter + big LiFePO4 bank. See our A/C on battery guide.
Should I get a station or build a LiFePO4 bank?
Station = convenience and portability now. A permanent 12V LiFePO4 bank = more capacity per dollar and a permanent install. Many RVers run both: a bank as the main system and a station as backup.
How many watts of solar do I need?
