Best Group 24 Lithium Battery for RV (2026)

A Group 24 lithium battery is the easiest upgrade in RVing: it drops straight into the same footprint your old AGM or flooded battery occupied, but delivers roughly double the usable amp-hours and a third of the weight. If you're replacing a single lead-acid battery and don't want to re-engineer your compartment, this is the move.

Why the Group 24 size matters

Group 24 is one of the most common RV battery trays — roughly 10.25" L × 6.8" W × 8.9" H. Most travel trailers, truck campers, and van builds ship with one or two. A LiFePO4 in that exact case means:

  • No tray modification: bolt it in where the old battery sat.
  • Real 100Ah usable: ~90–100Ah usable vs ~50Ah from a 100Ah AGM.
  • Lighter: ~24–27 lb instead of 60+ lb of lead-acid.

Switching the chemistry? Our lithium vs AGM piece shows the real-world math, and our install guide covers the swap.

Will it fit my tray?

Almost always yes — that's the point of a "Group 24" form factor. Two things to check:

  • Terminal type: most LiFePO4 use M8 threaded posts; grab matching lugs or adapters.
  • Height: a few "Group 24" lithiums are slightly taller for built-in Bluetooth; measure your clearance.
  • Ventilation: LiFePO4 doesn't off-gas, so you can safely put it inside a living space where lead-acid never belonged.

Can I run two Group 24 lithiums in parallel?

Yes — parallel keeps 12V and adds capacity (two 100Ah → ~200Ah usable). Match brand, capacity, and ideally batch; let the BMS balance them. Our lithium battery guide covers sizing.

Do I need a new charger?

You need a lithium-aware charge profile (no equalization, ~14.4–14.6V absorption). Most modern RV converters support it via a dip switch. See our charging guide.

Group 24 enough for a fridge?

One 100Ah Group 24 easily runs a 12V compressor fridge for a weekend. For multi-day boondocking with an inverter, consider stepping up to a 300Ah battery or paralleling two.
